About Implantation:

What are implants?

Dental implants are substitutes or replacements for the root of natural teeth, usually made from titanium. They are placed in your jawbone with artificial teeth attached on them; they are good choice for fixing natural feeling and looking, long lasting dental restorations.

Why chose implantation?

Dental implants provide probably the possible longest solution at the moment in dentistry for replacing missing teeth. Implantation is one of the most advanced fields of dentistry. It is the only solution for replacing one or more missing teeth which can optimally* last for 8 or more years. *the outcome of implantation treatment depends on many factors, including health conditions and the patient’s lifestyle.

Are implants safe?

Regularly they are made of titanium, a harmless metal even for the allergic ones and very strong material. Dentists have been applying implantation for decades maintaining absolute safety for the patient.

Can anybody have implants?

Most people can have implants. The question whether someone is suitable for implantation or not is best to be answered during a personal consultation by a dentist. There are rare cases where due to extreme reasons it is not suggested procedure; it depends on many different conditions.

How long does treatment take?

The treatment itself can be done fast, generally, it does not take long, though it is increased by preparation and healing period; 2 or 3 visits are required (for the whole treatment) for undertaking implantation, where a visit lasts from 5 to 7 days.

Can I take the teeth out if they are fixed by implant?

There are dental restorations fixed on implants which can only be taken out by a dentist. Most of them are not needed to be taken out for cleaning. This also depends on the restoration your dentist will find best fitting your condition.

Do I need an implant for each missing teeth?

It depends on your health conditions, such as your bone density, its shape, size, also a question which is best to be answered during a personal consultation by a dentist. Usually 6-8 implants can hold a full restoration per jaw. A panoramic x-ray is usually needed to be taken for a correct final decision about the following treatment.

About Aesthetic Dentistry:

What is aesthetic dentistry?

Is the branch of dentistry where developments are focused on a number of dental procedures applied to enhance or improve the aesthetics of one’s smile.

What is a crown?

When you have some discoloration or damage on a tooth, your dentist can recommend dental crowns (or dental “caps”) as a possible solution. They are called “crown” or “cap” since they are not only placed on the top a tooth, but they cover the full surface of it protecting it afterwards.

Why are dental crowns needed?

Crowns are placed to protect and strengthen the teeth this way void breaking. As a tooth gets older it is more sensitive for strong occlusion and can break more easily. This is affected more if there is also a large filling. The larger the filling is the more chance is for the teeth for breaking or cracking. A dental crown is like a cap, creates a powerful shield on the teeth. The usage of crowns helps you keep your ability to chew and smile without restraints.

What is a bridge?

Dental bridges actually consist of more crowns fused together like a chain held by the first and last links (crown) of the chain; they bridge over the gap of missing teeth. Compare our offers on crown and bridge units...

How are crowns and bridges attached?

After reshaping the holding teeth, the crown or cap is then cemented on these prepared teeth to hold the restoration in its place.

Does treatment for crowns and bridges take long?

Actually, the treatment itself is not long at all. Though, the time needed is increased by the preparatory work the technicians carry out in the dental laboratory. Usually crowns and bridges can be fitted within 5 working days.

What are the most common materials?

There are many materials used in dentistry for crowns and bridges. The most common ones are full-metal (usually is gold alloy, palladium, nickel or chromium alloy), porcelain fused to metal, and full porcelain (different modern porcelain and ceramic materials)

About Tooth Whitening:

How long does the whiteness last after treatment?

It depends on the patient’s health conditions and everyday habits, including drinking, eating and more importantly, smoking.

How does tooth whitening work?

Professional tooth whitening takes place in the dental surgery accompanied by a dentist. In the dental surgery, a special translucent gel is applied on the tooth which is then affected with a special lamp activating the substance to whiten the teeth.

Is teeth whitening dangerous for gums?

Since most of the whitening solutions contain hydrogen-peroxide in different amounts, the gums usually need to be protected from the whitening effect of this substance. If the gums are not protected carefully, a slight sensitiveness and whiteness may occur for couple of days on the spot where the peroxide touched the gums.

How long does tooth whitening treatment take?

The course of tooth whitening lasts usually between 40 and 60 minutes, taking two, three or more sessions. Different whitening systems require different length of sessions.

About anesthesia:

What is general anaesthesia?

This helps patients to undertake treatments without noticing and suffering any pain during the course of the treatment. Most commonly inhalation and intravenous anaesthetics are combined to maintain anaesthesia. It is the most powerful form of anaesthesia and describes an unconscious state during surgeries. It is supervised by an anaesthetist who keeps the patient in a very carefully controlled state of unconsciousness.

Can anybody undertake treatments under general anaesthesia?

There are, of course, situations where it is preferable to avoid general anaesthetic, but advancements in science have made this way of anaesthesia safer than ever was before.

Dental Implantation

Some would say that, if you cannot smile because your teeth let you down, you are missing out on one of life’s simple pleasures.

Implants are the optimal solution to having that pleasure back: your smile, your confidence and – still more importantly – the ability to chew naturally. As you get older the roots of your teeth might be damaged by cavities or need to be extracted.

One or more missing teeth can change the shape and therefore the look of your face. Dental implants not only feel and act like natural teeth, they also provide a natural look since the artificial teeth built on to them are shaped to fill gaps and look like real teeth.

Our experienced implantologists will examine and advise you with the implant system best fitting your health and oral conditions. Therefore, they apply different systems to ensure that they can suggest the best one for each different case.
